Our Vision for Ministry

Our Vision for our Church

Welcome to our church.

Trinity Hills was commenced in February 2001 when a small group of people from Holy Trinity Adelaide began meeting with friends in the Aldgate Memorial Hall.

Some had recently moved to live in the Hills, others had been locals for many years.  It did not take long for the small group to grow and for the church to become an active centre for a new Christian community.

At our heart we have always been motivated by what god has done for us through the Lord Jesus Christ.

So we deliberately developed a model for ministry that embraces the idea that God's grace comes before anything else we might attempt.  That is, any activities we undertake should be in response to his grace to us in Christ.  But the question of what we should do remains.  We want to glorify God.  We want him and his name to be honoured.  And, yes, we do want to do it in response to his grace to us.

But what are we going to do?

Churches must be built on Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11).  That means people motivated by grace must proclaim Christ alone.  If we proclaim anything more it will build a church based on significantly less.  Proclaiming Christ is not simply door knocking or street preaching.  In our church it already happens in lots of different ways - from sharing meals to building Gingerbread houses!

The Bible warns us not to lose sight of Jesus.  We must not shift our gaze from our ultimate destination - being with him.

So with the Apostle Paul's words to the Christians in Corinth to encourage us, we pray that we might help each other keep our eyes, not on what we can see, but on Christ and on his kingdom as we grow as partners in the gospel.

So what might our ministry look like?

The Bible tells us ‘the fields are white for harvest, but the workers are few.’ We are called to evangelise and we want to see people brought into the Kingdom of God. Multiplication by church planting is proven strategy for evangelism and for creating more bible teaching churches.

Holy Trinity has a vision for planting gospel-focused, Bible-teaching churches across Adelaide. The Hills 10 AM congregation was the first step in this process. Under God, we hope to continue planting churches and congregations. There are not many evangelical churches in Adelaide with the resources we have available. We also want to co-operate with others who have the same vision and encourage them to do it also. We long to see a network of growing Bible-teaching churches across Adelaide, some planted by Trinity, some planted by others.

Where? Where there are people. Where there are non-Christians! In addition to the 10 AM and 5 PM gatherings in the Hills, five gatherings are held each Sunday on the North Terrace site and adjoining cinema and the new Trinity Bay congregation commenced in 2006.

We are, under God, looking to the future and considering further church plants and new congregations.

Let's do all we can to keep our gaze on what we cannot (yet) see.
